Alright folks, today is the first day of the 2nd NWCF Paleo Challenge of 2011. This time around shouldn’t be as tough for us folks that did the first challenge. For those of you that are taking your first crack at it, hold on tight for the first 10 days and the rest will be smooth sailing. I’ve actually been doing the diet for about 3 1/2 months now. I started it with the intention of getting better athletic performance. I felt like the way I was eating prior to Paleo was making me a bit sluggish. After a few weeks I started to notice a better level of energy throughout the day, which carried over into the gym. Shedding about 10+ pounds and leaning out a bit were a couple of the byproducts of the diet, which I won’t complain about too much 🙂
If I had to find a downside to the diet, not counting the cravings, it would be that I am not as strong in terms of brute strength anymore, which I think can be attributed to the weight loss and elimination of certain carbs and grains. But I can live with the give and take for now. I did veer from the diet while on vacation in May, but that was already over 60 days into it. Aside from that I’ve maintained about 95% Paleo. My main exceptions are that I’ve started to drink chocolate milk after really hard workouts, and I like a decent amount of cream in my Americano’s.
Once again, I’ll be posting my food intake on Kipping Squats for the duration of the 30-day Challenge. Maybe I’ll do a bacon counter to keep track of how many strips of bacon I eat over the next 30 days. Done deal. Bacon Counter is a go.
So here we go! In just 30 short days we’ll all be getting our Jared on! If you don’t know what that means, take a look at the shirt he is wearing the next time you see him in the gym. You will likely notice the absence of said shirt. That, my friends, is getting your Jared on. 3-2-1 GO!!
