Paleo Challenge 2.0: Day 1

Well, that wasn’t so bad.  I was fully content and satisfied with my food intake today… until I got home, turned on The Travel Channel and proceeded to watch a rerun of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations.  The episode was called “Food Porn, Part 2”.  I watched him eat steak, sushi and BBQ, and then finished the segment by drinking melted chocolate.  Drinking it.  Chocolate.  Out of a cup.

Breakfast
3 Scrambled eggs
8 strips of bacon
Banana
Americano w/cream

Snack
1 Handful of almonds

Lunch
1/3 Pound of tri-tip steak
Large mixed greens salad with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, chopped almonds and dried cranberries

Snack
Small cup of blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries
1 Handful of almonds

Post WOD
Chocolate milk

Dinner
Lemon/rosemary chicken breast
Broccoli salad

Snack
Dried mango
Sliced pepperoni

Total Running Bacon Count: 8 strips

    Nice. Way to go, Darren! I’m gonna skip this Paleo challenge. My schedule has been kinda crazy and going Paleo has been straining my wallet ($$$) the last time. Anyways, you’re looking good and of course killing all the WODs!

    Good job Darren! I know you didn’t ask for this but I want you to succeed – As a helpful hint if you find your WOD recovery times going down or having trouble putting on muscle, I’d up the protein a bit. You’ve got really good stuff going but it looks as if you may be a little low on protein with the bulk of your animal choices being fattier.

  3. Someone should educate me about having a dairy exception. I know many folks who do this. I have access to raw milk which is particularly nutritious.
